DATUM® compressors re-inject CO2-rich gas blend to very high pressure levels


Raising a compressor’s pressure and density leads to greater instability. That was the commonly accepted school of thought—until Dresser-Rand thoughtfully designed a better way for an FPSO vessel off the shores of Brazil. We created a compressor unit that made it possible to increase pressure, density, and stability. And now that high-pressure, high-density solution makes it possible to compress carbon dioxide and heavy gases in oil and gas upstream markets such as urea production and carbon capture and sequestration segments.

DATUM high-pressure and high-density compression technology significantly reduces total footprint, requiring approximately 50 percent less space and up to 35 percent less weight than a conventional compression and pumping module. This new technology will also significantly reduce CAPEX and operating costs while increasing reliability by eliminating the need to install, operate and maintain high-pressure injection pumping systems downstream of the compression system. And because total cycle time is reduced, equipment can be on-line and producing sooner.
